Nigeria takes a decisive step in Simon Ekpa’s case by submitting extradition requirements to the Finnish government. Learn more about the latest developments.

The Nigerian government has officially submitted the required documents to Finland’s government for the extradition of Biafra activist Simon Ekpa.

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, revealed this information during an appearance on Channels Television on Tuesday.

Musa said, “I’m sure he’s taking some time to cool down somewhere.”

Legal action will be pursued as needed. I can’t discuss it in detail, but I’m relieved to hear about his arrest.

The Federal Government has submitted the majority of the necessary documents to the Finnish Government, so I am confident that appropriate actions will be taken.

In November 2024, Finnish authorities detained Ekpa and four additional individuals on suspicion of participating in terror-related activities, including incitement to violence and the financing of terrorism.

The District Court of Lahti in Finland ordered Ekpa’s detention on probable grounds for public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent in Nigeria.

The separatist leader faces accusations of utilizing social media to disseminate propaganda supporting secession and aggressively advocating for the separation of southeastern Nigeria.
