On Thursday, the Senate initiated an inquiry into the recent demolitions occurring in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and established an investigative committee to examine the situation.

According to a motion put forth by Senator Osita Ngwu, Julius Berger has neglected to respond to requests for information regarding their involvement in the project, despite having received significant public funding exceeding N18 billion.

The Senate has denounced the refusal of Julius Berger and other parties to comply with lawful invitations, deeming it a contempt of the National Assembly and a challenge to constitutional authority.

Moreover, the Senate has exercised its constitutional powers to issue a warrant of arrest to ensure the attendance of the Managing Director of Julius Berger at the rescheduled investigative hearing.
