Senate adjourns plenary in anticipation of the gubernatorial election

The Senate postponed its regularly planned session on Monday to Tuesday, March 21, 2023.

Due to the gubernatorial elections, the Red Chamber last met in plenary session on Tuesday, March 14, 2023.

In order to allow senators running for governorships to participate in the campaigns and elections, Senate President Ahmad Lawan moved the plenary to March 14.

“We must unite in order for all of us to take part in the campaigns and elections for governors and state assembly members,” he urged.

The plenary, however, has been postponed once more, according to a document authored by Chinedu Akubueze, Clerk of the Senate.

According to a copy of the document that our reporter obtained, “This is to alert all distinguished senators of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that the resumed Senate in plenary has been rescheduled from Tuesday, March 14, 2023, to Tuesday, March 21, 2023.

This notification requests that all distinguished senators return to the plenary on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at 10 a.m.
