Professor Sunday Nnamchi’s election was declared illegal by the Enugu State National Assembly and State House of Assembly tribunals, but their decisions have been overturned by the Court of Appeal located in Lagos.

According to OBASANJO NEWS24, the tribunal proclaimed Prince Cornelius Nnaji (Ike Nike) the winner of the votes conducted on February 25 and invalidated the election of Nnamchi of the Labour Party on September 8, 2023.

The LP candidate was deemed ineligible to run for office by the three-member panel chaired by A. M. Abubakar since he never left the institution before applying for the new job.

Nnamchi, however, filed a request for remedy at the Appeal Court, attempting to have the lower court’s decision overturned.

The Court of case ruled on Friday, finding that the Labour Party candidate’s case has substance.

Subsequently, the court pronounced him the genuine victor of the election to represent the state’s Enugu East/Isi-Uzo Federal Constituency.
