People with erectile dysfunction have been encouraged to be more mindful of their diet and lifestyle choices by consultant gynaecologist Dr. Ayodele Ademola, since these factors may be contributing to their lack of erection.

The advise was given by Ademola, the medical director of the Advanced Fertility Centre and Strong Tower Hospital in Lagos, during a Friday interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

He claims that one of the recognised causes of potency issues, also referred to as erectile dysfunction (ED), is food.

He noted that as diabetes is known to be a cause of erectile dysfunction, foods that may cause the disease may also contribute to issues with potency.

He went on to claim that heart disease and diets heavy in saturated fats were related, and that men who had heart disease were more prone than others to have erectile dysfunction.

Ademola claims that erectile dysfunction is a common medical condition that is spreading throughout the globe.

According to his statement, 322 million instances of ED are expected to occur globally by 2025.

The gynaecologist refuted the notion that eating sugary or sweet foods may lead to erectile dysfunction, unless diabetes was the contributing factor.

In the event that a person does not have diabetes, consuming sugary foods by themselves will not cause a potency issue.

Diabetes and obesity both increase the risk of erectile dysfunction. An individual with poor eating habits may gain weight or become obese, which may exacerbate potency issues.

The first thing, he said, is for people to understand that erectile dysfunction is a very common issue, so they won’t treat it strangely or begin taking various medications in an attempt to treat it.

He noted that since diabetes and anxiety are two of the main known reasons of impotence, it’s critical to acknowledge that erectile dysfunction is a frequent issue and prevent those who are affected from becoming overly concerned.

“One who is well would always function better. Thus, the notion of maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle should be promoted,” he stated.

According to Ademola, making dietary and activity modifications as well as quitting smoking and alcohol could lower the chance of obesity and cardiovascular disease, two diseases that can cause erectile dysfunction.

“Healthy lifestyle practises should be maintained, such as engaging in regular exercise, eating a varied and nutritious diet, keeping a healthy weight, consuming little alcohol, and abstaining from tobacco use,” Ademola stated.
