Aiyedatiwa receives endorsement from 13 lawmakers in Ondo for APC ticket

Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has received the support of thirteen out of the twenty-two All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers in Ondo.

Led by Speaker Olamide Oladiji, the lawmakers expressed their preference for Aiyedatiwa to continue serving as Governor beyond 2024 during a meeting with the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party in Abuja, which is led by Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

Aiyedatiwa, who previously served as Deputy Governor, assumed office on December 27, 2023, following the passing of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Speaker Oladiji highlighted Aiyedatiwa’s achievements during his short time in office, emphasizing his ability to unite and involve all sectors of the State.

The Speaker also praised Aiyedatiwa for continuing the legacies of the late Governor. The lawmakers presented several reasons for their support, including Aiyedatiwa’s commitment to timely payment of salaries, the recruitment of 2,000 health workers, and the promotion of a harmonious relationship between the legislature, judiciary, and executive branches of government.

Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, in his role as the head of the NWC, assured the lawmakers, governorship aspirants, and party members that the upcoming primary election would be conducted fairly and transparently.

He acknowledged the crucial role played by the lawmakers in restoring peace and order within the party.

Ganduje emphasized the importance of cooperation between the legislators and the party’s office in Abuja, as various processes such as membership verification, aspirant screening, and the purchase of nomination forms would be carried out in preparation for the primaries.

Ganduje reaffirmed that Ondo state is an APC stronghold and urged the lawmakers to support the party’s efforts to maintain its dominance in the upcoming election.

He emphasized the need for their cooperation to ensure a free and transparent primary election process.

The NWC is committed to conducting the necessary procedures outlined in their program, which includes the verification of membership, screening of aspirants, and the selection of candidates for the election.
