Police take into custody 1,346 suspects linked to various violent offenses in just 5 weeks

The Nigeria Police Force has reported significant accomplishments in its efforts to combat crime throughout the country in the past five weeks, aiming to make crime less appealing and ensure the safety of all citizens.

According to ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the Force Public Relations Officer, the police have made several arrests, including 385 armed robbery suspects, 238 kidnapping suspects, 341 murder/homicide suspects, and 87 suspects involved in the unlawful possession of prohibited firearms, among others.

In addition to these arrests, the police have also recovered 143 firearms of various calibers, 741 ammunition, and 72 stolen vehicles.

Furthermore, they have successfully rescued 461 kidnapped victims across the country.

Adejobi highlighted a specific operation conducted by the Operation Zenda Joint Task Force on March 4, where they apprehended nine suspects, including a Cameroonian, at an arms manufacturing hideout in Benue State.

The recovered exhibits from the operation included eight Beretta Pistols under fabrication, one AK-47 rifle, ten AK47 live ammunition, five Beretta pistol ammunition, four welding gas cylinders, and other fabrication materials.

Adejobi emphasized the importance of landlords and employers of domestic staff in the Federal Capital Territory and other states to visit police stations within their areas to request and fill forms for the proper profiling of intended employees/tenants.

This measure aims to strengthen the capacity of the Nigeria Police Force to identify and deter potential threats within the FCT and beyond.
