Police Re-Arrest TikToker Sea King Over Alleged Cyberbullying of Pastor Adeboye
Nigerian TikToker Sea King has been re-arrested for allegedly cyberbullying Pastor E.A. Adeboye, sparking discussions on online conduct and free speech.
Renowned Nigerian TikToker, Olumide Ogunsanwo, known as Sea King, has allegedly been taken into custody again at a court location.
The TikToker was re-arrested on Thursday for cyberbullying Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), during a live session in December last year.
During his court appearance, he was re-arrested and taken to the Lagos State Police Command in Ikeja before being flown to Abuja.
On Thursday, Sea King appeared at a magistrate’s court in the Ogba area of Lagos State for a separate trial initiated against him by the police.
On Friday, human rights activist Omoyele Sowore announced Sea King’s arrest in a post on X.
We have just left the DIG Dasuki Galandanchi-led Federal Investigation Department (FID) of the Nigeria Police Force. There, we encountered Olumide Ogunsanwo along with police officers who had traveled to Lagos to abduct him. Barrister Deji Adeyanju and Marshal D.F. Abubakar were present as lawyers representing Sea King and acting on behalf of @InibeheEffiong.
To our surprise, they revealed that Olumide’s recent ordeal stemmed from accusations of cyberbullying against Pastor E.A. Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, during a TikTok session conducted by @seaking303 in December 2024.
In December 2024, Sea King was initially reported for making derogatory remarks about President Bola Tinubu and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in viral social media videos.
The police charged him with cyberstalking, treason, and actions likely to disturb the peace.
Nonetheless, the magistrate set his bail at N500,000 requiring two sureties in equivalent amounts.
