A pastor has been arrested over the alleged murder of a university graduate. Authorities investigate the shocking incident.

The aspirations of 28-year-old Ogubode Adedamola, a graduate from Lagos State University (LASU), were tragically ended following his alleged murder by a pastor.

Adedamola, who was eagerly anticipating taking part in the university’s convocation ceremony on April 3, 2025, is reported to have been killed by Evangelist Whepetoji Babaniyeh. Sources have confirmed that the pastor has since been arrested.

Although there were reports of Babaniyeh’s apprehension, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer CSP Benjamin Hundeyin indicated that he was not aware of the arrest when making his statement.

Adedamola, who graduated in 2024 with a degree in Political Science Education and is the CEO of Horlar Edu Consultancy—a private enterprise located on the LASU campus—went missing on January 16, 2025.

His girlfriend, who wished to remain anonymous, disclosed that the last time he reached out to her was while standing in front of CCC Ileri Oluwa Parish, LASU 2. He promised to call back but never did.

According to reports, the police visited the church based on his girlfriend’s account. However, the pastor allegedly denied seeing Adedamola that day or knowing where he was.

During the investigation, it was reported that the police had acquired his bank statements and discovered a transfer of N1.5 million on the day he disappeared.

Additional investigations by the police uncovered that a portion of the money was deposited into the bank accounts of both the pastor and his daughter.

Some LASU students, during a phone conversation with Vanguard, reported that the suspect first denied receiving the money. However, after being presented with transaction evidence by the police, he later asserted that it was intended for a Thanksgiving offering.

This resulted in his detention for further investigation. The body of the LASU graduate was found buried near the church premises, and a gun along with an axe were reportedly seized from the Pastor.
