The COPREP initiative further bolstered the surveillance team by providing stipends for the training and placement of contact tracers and community informants.

He clarified, “But they would be used for active case searches in advance of the cholera outbreak.”

Ajaka said that in order to guarantee the state’s health institutions are strengthened, drinkable water is provided, and cleanliness is maintained, an emergency readiness committee would be established.

He urged the people to exercise caution and seek care at any of the state’s basic healthcare institutions in the case of a health emergency, even as he pledged that the government would do its own by raising awareness through community involvement and media sensitization.
