Ogun State: Gunmen Abduct Two Chinese Workers

Ogun State witnesses another abduction as gunmen kidnap two Chinese workers, intensifying security concerns.

Chen Wenguang and Liang Ding, expatriates from China, were kidnapped by unidentified gunmen in Ogun State’s Kemta/Abule-Owu area on Onigbedu Road.

According to reports, the two Chinese citizens were allegedly abducted at approximately 1:45 pm on Sunday while exiting their workplace en route to visit some acquaintances.

According to a police source, Wenguang and Ding were associated with the Good One Carton Company located in the vicinity.

Wenguang and Ding departed from the company without informing any security personnel, including those assigned by the police or military, nor did they notify the company of their departure.

According to the source, they informed a small group of individuals that they were going to Kémta village – located roughly one kilometre from their workplace – in order to visit some acquaintances.

The police spokesperson for the state, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and stated that kidnappers had reached out to demand ransom in exchange for freeing their captives when contacted.

According to her, the security supervisor of the company has stated that an expatriate informed him about Wenguang and Ding being held hostage by kidnappers who were demanding ransom money for their release.

Despite the collaborative efforts of our agents in the Ewekoro Division, local vigilante groups, military staff from Social Orientation and Safety Corps as well as other security formations who actively combed through Kémta Village forest extensively , we could not locate the duo.

She stated that the ongoing efforts were aimed at securing the release of both individuals.
