Obi Ready to Fulfill Bail Conditions for Farotimi, Says Tanko
Peter Obi has expressed his willingness to fulfill the bail conditions for Farotimi, according to a statement by Tanko. Details of the case remain under review.
Peter Obi, a politician and former governor of Anambra State, has volunteered to meet the bail requirements for human rights lawyer Dele Farotimi’s release.
An Ekiti Magistrate Court granted bail to Farotimi in a defamation case involving Afe Babalola.
The bail conditions stipulate a bond of N30 million, two sureties (one must be a homeowner), surrendering his passport, and refraining from giving media interviews.
In a statement released on Friday through his X account, Tanko Yunusa, who previously served as the spokesperson for Obi’s 2023 presidential campaign, clarified that Obi supports resolving the issue in a manner that honors legal processes and benefits all parties involved.
Yunusa stated that he consulted His Excellency, Peter Obi, as the leader of the Obidient Movement. As a person who respects rule of law, due process, and order, Peter Obi offered to take on Dele Farotimi’s bail conditions.
He is focused on ensuring the situation is resolved in a way that benefits all parties and upholds our legal system. He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to everyone involved.
