Notorious criminal causing terror in Yobe taken into custody by police

The Yobe State Police Command has apprehended a prominent criminal, 40 years old.

In a statement sent to reporters on Monday, the Command’s public relations officer, DSP Dungus Abdulkarim, revealed this information as well as the fact that the suspect, Haruna Mohammed, was an expert at extorting money and other valuables from victims by threatening to kill them or hurt them.

The State Intelligent Department has detained Haruna Mohammed, a 40-year-old inhabitant of Lantewa village, Tarmuwa LGA (SID).

Mohammed’s involvement in terrorising cities, villages, and adjacent states had the Command investigating him.

The statement stated, “A victim from Siminti village, Lantewa, Tarmuwa LGA, reported that Mohammed threatened to kill him and his family or demanded N3,000,000.00.”

The statement also said that the suspect had admitted to the crime and named additional members of the syndicate, who the police are currently pursuing.

The statement further stated, “The Commissioner of Police warned that anyone with a criminal tendency will face stiff resistance.”
