Nollywood Actress Reveals Heartbreaking Rejection by Her Parents
A Nollywood actress shares her emotional story of being rejected by her parents, highlighting the struggles and resilience that shaped her career.
Actress Jumoke George has revealed a poignant story about her childhood experiences, divorce, and facing rejection from her parents.
During an emotional interview with Biola Bayo on the “Talk to B” show, Jumoke disclosed the traumatic events that have significantly influenced her life.
Jumoke shared her experiences of mistreatment by her stepmother, who compelled her to visit a herbalist’s house from an early age.
She claimed that she was forced to prepare food using charms meant to control her father.
Jumoke recounted feeling as if she were treated like a slave, stressing how deeply painful these experiences were for her.
“My stepmother was even more terrible. From a young age, I was sent to a herbalist’s house. It pains me deeply that I had to prepare the meals where the charm would be added for my dad. They treated me worse than you would treat a slave. Today, I’ve finally put an end to those tasks they constantly assigned,” she said.
She mentioned that when she eventually confided in her father about the cruel actions of her stepmother, he did not believe her.
She stated that he disowned her, which resulted in a period of homelessness and hardship.
Jumoke remembered crouching in different spots, sleeping on tables, and even using safety pins to keep her clothes intact.
When I begged him to let me speak, he replied, “From now on, I disown you.” Then he went into his room and the next thing I saw was him coming out with his gun.
“From that moment, I found myself in a predicament. The biggest mistake of my life was insisting on going with my dad when he got transferred.”
“I was sleeping wherever I could; once, I even slept on the table used for selling goods by the roadside. If I saw an abandoned vehicle, I’d sleep inside it. At that time, I held my bras together with a safety pin and relied on twine ropes to keep my pants up,” she explained.
Jumoke also shared details about the difficult relationship she had with her mother, which originated from her choice to remain with her father during his transfer.
She mentioned that her parents have reconciled, and her mother has apologized for her past actions.
It was only about four or five years ago that I learned what had upset my mother. At that point, she asked for my forgiveness, explaining that at the time of her actions, she didn’t know Christ and acted out of ignorance because she was in pain herself.
Additionally, Jumoke discussed her experiences with domestic violence during her unsuccessful marriage.
She stated that her ex-husband often physically abused her, even in public, and mentioned that the severity of the abuse increased while she was pregnant.
When I became pregnant, my relationship with him worsened significantly; he constantly abused me. It escalated to the point where he would come to my movie rehearsals just to assault me, sometimes causing us both to tumble down the stairs.
Jumoke likened her marriage to a nightmare, explaining that it felt like going from the frying pan into the fire.
