NNPCL Denies Explosion at Warri Refinery, Dismisses Rumors
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has refuted reports of an explosion at Warri Refinery, assuring the public that operations remain stable.
The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) has refuted reports of an explosion at the Warri refinery.
According to reports, the Warri refinery is presently loading eight trucks of diesel and kerosene each day.
According to a statement released on Friday by Olufemi Soneye, the NNPC Chief Corporate Communications Officer, this was because operations were intentionally curtailed on January 25.
Soneye stated that claims of an explosion at the refinery complex were untrue.
NNPC Ltd. wants to make it clear that no explosion occurred at the Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company (WRPC). Any claims stating otherwise are entirely untrue.
On January 25, 2025, operations at WRPC Area 1 were deliberately reduced to perform essential intervention work on specific equipment and field instruments that were affecting sustainable and consistent operations.
These intervention efforts are crucial to guarantee the production of on-specification finished and intermediate products, especially Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) and Kerosene.
Routine maintenance is proceeding as scheduled, and Area 1 will resume operations within the next few days. Despite ongoing interventions, AGO loading has averaged eight trucks per day over the past 11 days, with a sufficient supply to support continued truck load-out operations.
Soneye emphasized that the NNPCL is dedicated to maintaining a consistent supply of products and values the patience and cooperation of all stakeholders as it completes these crucial maintenance tasks.
