Nasarawa: Governor Sule sues the APC and INEC over tribunal decision
Abdullahi Sule, the governor of Nasarawa State, has filed a lawsuit against his political party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), following his defeat at the Lafia, the state’s capital, location of the Governorship Election Petition Tribunal (GEPT).
The recent tribunal decision has confused the governor, who has asked the Court of Appeal for a second opinion on the decision that removed him from office and declared David Ombugadu of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, the state’s legitimately elected governor.
Since then, Sule has given his legal counsel the order to challenge the tribunal’s ruling.
But in what appears to be a perplexing turn of events, his legal counsel has launched a new appeal, focusing on people who are thought to be the governor’s sympathisers.

Sule appears to have launched a lawsuit against Ombugadu, the PDP, INEC, and his own party, the APC, according to a document made accessible to DAILY POST and submitted to the Makurdi Court of Appeal.
To counter Sule’s appeal, David Ombugadu and the PDP have filed a cross-appeal with the Court of Appeal in Markurdi.
According to the paper, the first, second, and third respondents are INEC, Abdullahi Sule, and APC, respectively.
Remember that David Ombugadu of the PDP won the majority of the tribunal ruling that deposed Sule as the governor of Nasarawa State.
Sule was recognised as the duly elected governor by a minority decision, nonetheless.
