NAFDAC prohibits sale of Dex Luxury soap in Nigeria
The ban on Dex Luxury bar soap in Nigeria was recently announced by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration Control (NAFDAC) due to the presence of Butyphenyl Methylpropional (BMHCA) in the product.
This decision was made public through a post on the Agency’s official handle on Thursday, April 11.
The ban was imposed as a precautionary measure after the European Union (EU) had already banned the product citing potential risks to the reproductive system of users, harm to unborn children, and skin sensitization.
Despite the fact that this particular product is not listed in the NAFDAC database, the agency urged importers, distributors, retailers, and consumers to be cautious and vigilant in order to prevent the importation, distribution, sale, and use of the banned product.
