Lagos Arrests Suspected Killer of Nigerian University Student
Lagos police have apprehended the suspected killer of a Nigerian university student, marking a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation.
In relation to the death of Idowu Christianah, a third-year student at Federal University of Agriculture in Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Ogun State, the Nigeria Police Force has acknowledged detaining Ayomide Adeleye, 23 years old.
In August, Christianah was said to have been kidnapped on the Ikorodu-Yaba Road in Lagos. The alleged abductor known as Ayomide is a second-year Philosophy student enrolled at Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) located in Ogun State.
Following the occurrence, individuals on social media initiated #JusticeForChristianah as a trending hashtag on X (previously known as Twitter), urging authorities to efficiently pursue legal action against the perpetrator.

There were several users who linked Ayomide to the suspicious deaths of his ex-girlfriend in 2018 and sister in 2020, leading to concerns about a potential trend.
Via X, Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer of Lagos State shared news about the arrest and posted a photo of the suspect in handcuffs. According to Hundeyin, Ayomide was turned over to the police by Nigerian Army last Thursday afternoon. Ongoing investigations are being conducted regarding this case.
According to the police spokesperson, on September 5th, 2024 at around 1400hrs, Ayomide Adeleye who is a young adult of age twenty-three was delivered into the custody of @LagosPoliceNG by 9 Brigade @HQNigerianArmy. An ongoing investigation persists.
