A $1.19 million mini-stadium has been put into service by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) and the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA) to aid in the grassroots football development in Kebbi State.
September saw the groundbreaking of the project at Kalgo Road in Birnin Kebbi, which was spearheaded by the state’s former governor, Atiku Bagudu, with backing from NFF.

In his Friday stadium dedication speech, Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris emphasised the importance of getting young people involved in productive activities to maintain their health.
He declared that his administration will keep helping clubs and associations succeed and is thinking about bringing back the Annual Sports Festival.
Alhaji Safiyanu Garba-Bena, Head of Service (HoS), was Idris’s representative.
He expressed his gratitude to NFF President Ibrahim Gusau and General Secretary Sanusi Muhammad for their assistance in getting the project cited, as well as to Abubakar Chika-Ladan, Chairman of the state Football Association, for his efforts.
To foster football talent in the state, the governor made a plea to the National Football League and the state football association to establish the state as a hub for the league.
Idris went on to reassure that his administration was prepared to support and collaborate with the growth of football and all other sports in the state.
