Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant first declared the embargo of Gaza on Monday, saying he had ordered a “complete siege” and that there would be “no electricity, no food, no fuel, and no water.”
Gallant declared, “We are fighting against human animals, and we are behaving accordingly.”

The EU’s foreign policy commissioner, Josep Borrell, said on Tuesday that denying Gaza’s civilian population of food, water, and electricity was against international law. The UN has also expressed alarm over Israel’s activities in Gaza.

In response, the UN stated that it will begin looking into any war crimes that may have occurred during the most recent escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, adding that it had “clear evidence” that both parties had seriously broken international human rights rules.
The most recent escalation of hostilities started on Saturday when Operation Al-Aqsa Flood was launched by Hamas, a Palestinian terrorist organisation that dominates much of Gaza and fired rockets and sent commandos deep into Israeli territory. As Israel formally declared war, the IDF retaliated by bombing Gaza and shutting off all of its utilities.
At least 1,300 people had died and 3,300 had been injured in Israel as of Thursday morning. Since the start of hostilities, the Palestinian authorities in Gaza have reported at least 1,203 fatalities and more than 5,763 injuries.
