In Chikun, Birnin Gwari, and Giwa LGAs of Kaduna, troops ambush bandits, neutralize 10, and destroy encampments
In the local government areas of Giwa, Birnin Gwari, and Chikun, the Nigerian Army set up a trap for the bandits. They killed 10 of them and destroyed their camps.
In a statement released on Friday, Mr. Samuel Aruwan, the Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed that Operation Forest Sanity troops killed eight bandits and took six motorcycles during ambush patrols near Chikun and Birnin Gwari.
According to information provided to the Kaduna State Government, troops set up ambush positions at bandits’ crossing points in the Buruku and Birnin Gwari areas. He also said that the troops found bandits and killed eight of them during the first successful mission. They also got back four motorcycles and three cell phones.
He says that the troops took two motorcycles from the bandits after fighting them in a second mission.
He said that during clearance patrols along the Sabon Birni-Maidaro-Dogon Dawa-Galadimawa-Kidandan-Fatika axes, “troops neutralized two bandits in a similar operation.”
He claimed that when clearing up camps near Garke and Galadimawa in the Giwa LGA, the troops also found one AK-47 rifle, two magazines holding 52 rounds, six motorcycles, and three mobile phones. They also discovered three Dane rifles, two magazines, some military uniforms, and nine motorcycles.
In addition, he added, “Governor Nasir el-Rufai received the reports with thanks and applauded the forces’ subtlety, bravery, and resilience in the successful operations.”
