Ayilamo and Mbachohon communities in the state’s Logo and Gwer-West local government areas were attacked by alleged armed herders, according to Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia.

According to information obtained by OBASANJO NEWS24, the armed guys who have been terrorising the state and murdering innocent residents broke into the local towns on Tuesday night and opened fire intermittently, killing an unknown number of villagers.

Residents had to be relocated as a result of several homes being burned down during the raid.

Alia expressed displeasure with the herders’ malicious actions in a statement following the incident, which was released by his chief press secretary, Sir Tersoo Kula.

He bemoaned how the terrorists are brutally murdering defenceless Benue residents for reasons that, in his opinion, are hard to understand and pinpoint.

The governor said his administration “cannot watch people killed daily on their farmlands and their villages for a cause very unknown to us.”

Alia expressed sympathy to the families of those who lost loved ones in the attacks and urged the state’s security authorities to swiftly identify and detain anyone believed to be responsible for such crimes so that they can be prosecuted.

He likewise urged the state’s youth and traditional leaders to stay watchful and alert security services to any suspicious activity.
