Over 200 mobile court operations have been set up by the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to prosecute traffic offenders during the nationwide Eid-el-Kabir special patrol operations.

This was revealed on Friday in Abuja at a press briefing on the FRSC Corps Marshal, Malam Shehu Mohammed, discussing the Corps’ preparations for the Sallah festival.

According to Mohammed, recent road developments have highlighted the obstacles to the safe usage of the highways, which the Corps has vowed to address head-on.

According to him, the problems include the unsightly practice of transporting people in trailers and trucks, nighttime travel, exhaustion, speeding, drunk driving, and overcrowding of cars.

According to him, the Corps has implemented a number of significant safety measures to address the threat, stop the negative trend, and adapt to the times, particularly those resulting from risky activity.

He lists the result-oriented initiatives that have been focused on productive cooperation with the State Judiciaries, NBA, and Nigerian Bar Association as one of these.

“This is for the prompt prosecution of drivers and car owners who are found in violation of recognised traffic laws, such as overloading, reckless driving, using a phone while driving, and speeding.

“Mobile court operations will be the means by which these violations are subdued,” he declared.

“They must learn to do the right thing at all times because, as you have the right to use the roads, so do others,” the FRSC chief urged drivers to instill in them a culture of decency, civility, and care for other road users.

As a result, anytime they are driving, drivers need to remember that their loved ones, friends, and family are waiting for them at home.
