Food insecurity: Minister announces ban on portfolio and political farmers by Federal Government
The Federal Government has taken steps to crack down on individuals who falsely claim to be farmers in order to benefit from government interventions in the agricultural sector.

Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, the Minister of State for Agriculture, made this announcement during a roundtable discussion in Abuja.
The government plans to implement a program that will identify genuine farmers and ensure that they receive the necessary support.
Additionally, the government is developing a strategy to encourage institutions with available land to engage in large-scale agricultural production, with the aim of combating food insecurity and reducing the high cost of food in the country.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has expressed his support for this initiative and has pledged to provide the Ministry of Agriculture with the necessary resources to assist genuine farmers.
The minister emphasized that the support provided by the government is crucial for farmers to achieve maximum productivity.
The government recognizes the importance of smallholder farmers and aims to provide support to those who have made significant investments in farming operations but have not yet received the assistance they require.
