The Independent Media and Policy Initiative (IMPI) has expressed its belief that the policy direction of President Bola Tinubu’s administration has paved the way for Nigeria to achieve the status of a $1 trillion economy within the next eight years.

IMPI highlighted the significance of the Renewed Hope Infrastructure Development Fund (RHIDF) in addressing the chronic underfunding of capital projects in annual budgets.

According to Niyi Akinsiju, the Chairman of IMPI, the administration’s decision to collaborate with private sector players will contribute to the realization of this goal.

Despite skepticism surrounding the declaration, IMPI emphasized that their analysis of the policy implementation environment supports the plausibility of achieving a trillion-dollar economic size.

They further noted that the RHIDF, similar to the United States’ Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, aims to invest in infrastructure that enhances long-term productive capacity and creates opportunities for disadvantaged communities.
