FG Unveils Plans for Aircraft Manufacturing in Nigeria
The Federal Government has announced strategic plans to establish aircraft manufacturing in Nigeria, aiming to boost the aviation sector and create local job opportunities.
Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, has announced that the Federal Government intends to set up an aircraft manufacturing company in Nigeria.
The facility is a joint effort between XeJet and local banks, with the goal of establishing Nigeria as a regional center for aviation services.
Keyamo made this announcement during the inauguration of XeJet’s Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) facility and flight support center in Abuja.
He observed that this decision aligns with the government’s vision to support local operators and enhance the nation’s aviation industry.
Keyamo stated, “Since assuming office, our focus has been on attracting MRO facilities to enhance our aviation ecosystem similarly to how they operate globally.”
“We explored everywhere for investors, but realized that what we needed was right here at home. This partnership between a local operator and regional banks is truly a dream come true.”
Highlighting the importance of the project, the minister pointed out the addition of new facilities, including a training center, which he called “a major accomplishment.”
Keyamo stated, “This initiative will not only benefit Nigeria but also attract users from across the West African sub-region. Our vision is to transform this facility into a regional center of excellence.
