Although President Muhammadu Buhari’s decision, Governor Nasir El-directive rufai’s that the old N500 and N1000 notes should continue to be valid in Kaduna State has sparked responses from Nigerians.

In a televised speech on Thursday, Buhari ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to extend the expiration date of the old N200 notes till April 10.

Also, he gave the directive that all old N1,000 and N500 notes must be redeemed at the CBN and other specified locations within 60 days.

The old N500 and N1000 notes will be be accepted in Kaduna State until the Supreme Court rules, according to Governor El-rufai, who had sued to have the policy overturned.

He further said that the Central Bank Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, had plans to thwart the general elections in order to establish an interim administration run by a retired general.

El-Rufai and other governors opposing the naira redesign strategy are not fighting for vulnerable Nigerians, according to Mr. Eric Ekwere, the Deputy National Director, Media, Atiku Support Group and member of the PDP/Atiku Presidential Campaign Council, who spoke to the Daily Post.

El-rufai was reprimanded by Ekwere for not acting like a leader, highlighting the fact that the APC has been in disarray since 2015.

He asserts that EL-rufai has not made clear to the public his primary justification for opposing the policy.

“El-lack rufai’s of leadership behaviour is regrettable. Even though we are struggling, Nigerians have embraced this policy. Everyone will gain in the long run.

“You’re saying that this is hurting the weaker Nigerians, yet they’ve released 200 naira, which is good for the weaker people. You keep complaining even if these people are not buying N1000 in large quantities.

This indicates that you have kept something from the public and are keeping it secret. You are stirring up public opposition to the government. Isn’t his recommendation that residents of his state continue using the denomination that has already expired putting those citizens at risk?

“Won’t the individuals who you are supposed to safeguard be impacted if they continue transacting and then go to the bank and don’t collect it?” Asked he.

Ekwere questioned why members of the governing party had resorted to holding the PDP presidential candidate accountable for the actions of their own administration and urged them to bear their cross and stay out of the PDP’s turmoil.

El-viewpoint Rufai’s is one with which I utterly disagree. Who is carrying out APC policy, if not Atiku? Instead of bearing their cross and considering how to win the election, they are blaming the PDP for the actions of the CBN Governor, who is an APC member.
