Drones Are Downed in Kiev During Russian Attack
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy asked allies again on Sunday to help Ukraine improve its air defences as it fights Russia’s invasion. On Monday, Kyiv’s military administration said that Russian drones had attacked the Ukrainian capital just hours earlier.
The military administration in Kiev announced in a Telegram post on Monday that Ukrainian forces had shot down nine Shahed drones built in Iran.
Russian drone attacks on Kiev and other Ukrainian cities have occurred frequently.
Zelenskyy said that air defence is a “continuous priority” for his government in his nightly video address on Sunday.
Zelenskyy said that you could stop the terrorist regime from using its main weapon of terror if you helped us protect our skies and gave us enough more advanced air defence equipment.”This will be one of the most effective actions that will speed up the end of the war.” When it can no longer use missile strikes, Russia will have to follow the road to ending its aggression.
On Sunday’s “This Week” programme on ABC News, Oksana Markarova, the ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, said, “We see what happens when we don’t have enough air defense.”
According to Markarova, Russian missiles have reportedly destroyed half of Ukraine’s electrical grid. “It must be stopped.” The only way to accomplish this, according to her, is to deploy more air defences throughout Ukraine.
Although no formal statement has been made, U.S. officials claim they are preparing to send a Patriot missile air defence battery to Ukraine to assist in shooting down approaching Russian airstrikes. Russia has said that the action the U.S. is planning to take is a provocation that will make the U.S. more involved in the crisis.
