Deaths from traffic accidents rose 29% in 2022, according to the FRSC
If only drivers would stop breaking traffic laws flagrantly, adds Ali-Biu, the Corps would be able to reverse the upward trend in road crashes.
According to the Federal Road Safety Corps, there were 29 percent more fatal car accidents in 2022 than there were in 2021.

The Corps Marshal of the FRSC, Dauda Ali-Biu, stated that the number of traffic-related fatalities jumped from 291 in 2021 to 381 in 2022 while speaking at a news conference on Friday in Abuja.
Additionally, Ali-Biu estimated that there were 626 motorway crashes in 2022 as opposed to 544 in 2021, a 15% increase.
If only drivers would stop blatantly breaking traffic laws, he said, the Corps would be able to reverse the upward trend in road crashes.
