David Mark burying his son who passed away in hospital in London
Tears were shed when Tunde Mark’s remains were put to rest in his hometown of Otukpo, Benue, the son of the late Senate President David Mark.
Tunde, passed away on October 21, 2022, at a hospital in London at the age of 51, having fought cancer for more than a year.
This information may be found in a statement made on Saturday in Minna by Paul Mumeh, Mark’s special adviser on media.
Mumeh said that the Service of Songs performed in Abuja on November 9 marked the start of the funeral rituals.
He said, “Family and friends travelled with Tunde’s body to Otukpo for a wake on Thursday, Nov. 10, and dedicated it to mother earth on Friday.”Nov.11.
The governor of Benue, Samuel Ortom, his deputy, Benson Abonu, the Senate minority leader, Sen. Philip Aduda, and Sen. Abba Moro, according to him, were among the notables who attended the funeral.
Others include Sen. Suleman Adokwe, a former senator from Nasarawa South, Idris Wada, Lekan Mustapha, Bishop Michael Apochi of the Catholic Diocese of Otukpo, and Rev. Innocent Jooji.
Many of the participants recalled the late Tunde as modest, intelligent, analytical, and someone who talked endlessly about almost any topic.
According to the statement, Most Rev. Fr. Sylvester Onmonke urged the family to have confidence in God during the speech since only He has the authority to give and take life.
Even though Tunde passed away in his prime, Onmoke pushed the parents, relatives, and friends to hold onto hope by pointing out that he left a legacy of selfless devotion to mankind.
Tunde’s younger brother David Mark Jr. and Blessing Onyeche-Onuh, a member of the Federal House of Representatives who represents the Otukpo/Ohimini Federal Constituency, read the former Senate President’s tribute to his deceased son.
Tunde’s bones were buried in the family compound in Otukpo as people sobbed.
His wife Natsu, daughter Audrey, parents, siblings, and wife all survive him.
