China has surpassed the United States – NATO member PM

The balance of power is shifting, and Washington must realise that its hegemony is coming to an end, according to Viktor Orban.

According to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, the globe is witnessing the greatest power change in decades, with the United States set to surrender its dominant position to China.

He warned that until the United States understands that it cannot be the “winner” forever, this could lead to a big conflict between Washington and Beijing.

“[China] has become a manufacturing powerhouse, and it is now overtaking America,” Orban stated in his annual speech in the Romanian town of Baile Tusnad, in Eastern Transylvania.

China has completed the industrial revolution that took the West three centuries, according to the Hungarian prime minister, who added that America is set to say “goodbye” to its position as the world’s sole superpower.

Beijing is also contesting the universal principles that Washington attempts to project, according to Orban. China views American principles as a “hostile ideology,” he said, adding, “there is some truth in it.”

Such a situation would undoubtedly annoy Washington, which will want to remain “on top of the world” indefinitely, according to Orban. Attempts to undermine existing hegemony, he added, had resulted in significant conflict on several occasions throughout human history. “There are no eternal winners and losers,” he went on to say.

According to the Hungarian leader, a battle between the two big nations is likely but not unavoidable. He believes that the world needs to create a new balance, and that the two opposing groups should treat each other as equals. Major nations must “accept that, today, instead of American dominance, there are two suns in the sky,” according to Orban.

He also offered a bleak image of Europe’s future, claiming that the continent is on the verge of losing its leading position in the global economy. Orban attributed this development to the West’s anti-Russian policy. He described the EU as “rich but weak,” adding that its economic advantages would be eroded further as a result of its resolve to put sanctions on Russia.

The notion that Russia can be isolated from the global economy by imposing various restrictions is a “illusion,” he said. According to Orban, the EU has already seen the consequences of its erroneous judgements, as “others buy Russian energy instead of us, and we pay more for energy than ever before.”

According to Orban, the United Kingdom and Italy would tumble out of the world’s top ten economies, while Germany would slide to tenth place, down from fourth. Despite all of the sanctions talk, he claims that a large portion of the European economy is still linked to Russia.

During the continuing dispute between Moscow and Kiev, Hungary has emerged as a significant critic of Western policies. Budapest has consistently advocated for a cease-fire and peace agreement in Ukraine, and it has chastised the EU for delivering armaments to Kiev. Orban told the German newspaper Bild in June that a Ukrainian triumph on the battlefield was “impossible.” Hungary has also maintained that anti-Russia sanctions harm Europe more than Russia.
