The Grammy-winning musician Burna Boy reportedly received a $5 million advance before agreeing to a recording contract with the American record label Atlantic Records in 2017, according to Nigerian hip-hop artist Phenom.
He asserted that the money was made possible by Matthew “Baus” Adesuyan, a Nigerian-American music executive who runs the Atlantic Records label Bad Habit, where Burna Boy is contracted.
This was revealed by the “Murder Dem” singer in the most recent Yarns podcast episode.

Additionally, he declared that if any record label offered him a $1 million advance payment, he would go back to rapping.
“Give me $1 million if you really want someone like me to rap,” he remarked. Sequester me within the studio. Music executives in America offer large contracts to rap artists. They handed Burna Boy $5 million when he was returning to music even before he made a comeback, thanks to Matthew “Baus” Adesuyan, who connected him to Atlantic Records.
Hip-hop is no longer profitable, according to Phenom, thus raving artists like Odumodublvck will soon stop rapping in order to sing.
He declared, “If someone like Odumodublvck receives a $100,000 advance from his label, he will have to start singing, stop rapping, and join TikTok in order to make it back for the label.”
