Billboard crowns Burna Boy as number 1, Afrobeats artist, leaving Wizkid and Davido behind

The top spot on the Billboard Year-End U.S. Afrobeats Artists Chart belongs to Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Damini Ogulu, better known by his stage name Burna Boy.

The second position went to “Calm Down” crooner Rema, followed by Tems, Cameroonian diva Libianca, and Wizkid in third, fourth, and fifth place, respectively.

The top 10 on the list, which was made public on Tuesday night via the Billboard website, is completed by Ayra Starr, CKay, Asake, Davido, and Oxlade.

On the Billboard Year-End U.S. Afrobeats Songs list, Libianca’s “People” and Tems’ “Free Mind” came in at numbers two and three, respectively, while Rema’s “Calm Down” remix with Selena Gomez peaked at number one.

Burna Boy’s “Last Last” and Wizkid’s “Essence,” which features Tems and Justin Bieber, round out the top 5.

Additionally, Rema’s song “Calm Down” peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Pop Airplay & Rhythmic Airplay year-end chart for 2023 and at No. 6 on the Hot 100 Year End 2023 chart.
