BREAKING: Nigerian Government forms committee to address National Minimum Wage
A 37-member Tripartite Committee to develop a new National Minimum Wage has been formally established by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In lieu of the president, who is now on a private visit to France, Vice President Kashim Shettima officially opened the committee.
The Committee is being chaired by Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji, a former head of the Federation’s civil service.
Shettima gave the committee members until the inauguration to look into collective bargaining in order to produce a workable proposal for a new wage policy.
The Federal Government, State Governments, the Private Sector, and Organised Labour are among the committee members.
Members of the Federal Government include Hon. Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, Hon. Minister of State, Labour and Employment (Representing Hon. Minister of Labour and Employment); Mr. Wale Edun, Hon. Minister of Finance & Coordinating Minister of the Economy; Alhaji Atiku Bagudu, Hon. Minister of Budget Economic Planning; Dr. (Mrs.) Yemi Esan, Head of the Federal Civil Service; Dr. Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri, Permanent Secretary, GSO. OSGF; and Ekpo Nta, Esq., Chairman/CEO, NSIWC – Member/Secretary.
At the State Government level, the following individuals represent the North Central region: Prof. Charles Soludo, Governor of Anambra State; Sen. Ademola Adeleke, Governor of Osun State; Mr. Otu Bassey Edet, Governor of Cross River State; Alh. Mohammed Umar Bago, Governor of Niger State; Sen. Bala Mohammed, Governor of Bauchi State; and Alh. Umar Dikko Radda, Governor of Katsina State.
Members of the Nigeria Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) include Asiwaju (Dr.) Michael Olawale-Cole, National President; Hon. (Dr.) Ahmed Rabiu, National Vice President; and Chief Humphrey Ngonadi (NPOM), National Life President. From the Nigeria Employers’ Consultative Association (NECA): Adewale-Smatt Oyerinde, Director-General, NECA; Mr. Chuma Nwankwo; Mr. Thompson Akpabio.
The individuals from the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) are Mrs Grace Omo-Lamai, Human Resource Director, Nigerian Breweries; Segun Ajayi-Kadir, mni, Director-General, MAN; and Lady Ada Chukwudozie, Managing Director, Dozzy Oil and Gas Limited. The members of the National Association of Small and Medium Enterprise (NASME) are Dr. Abdulrashid Yerima, President & Chairman of Council; Hon. Theophilus Nnorom Okwuchukwu, Private Sector representative; and Dr. Muhammad Nura Bello, Zonal V
Comrade Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Emmanuel Ugboaja, Comrade Prince Adeyanju Adewale, Comrade Ambali Akeem Olatunji, Comrade Benjamin Anthony, and Prof. Theophilius Ndukuba are among the organised labour leaders.
Comrade (Engr) Festus Osifo, President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC); Comrade Tommy Etim Okon, PhD, Deputy President I; Comrade Jimoh Oyibo, Deputy President III; Comrade Nuhu A. Toro, Secretary-General; and Comrade Hafusatu Shuaib, Chairperson Women Comm. are among the members of the TUC sector.
The group was also tasked by the vice president with producing suggestions as quickly as possible.
