The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor of Rivers State, Patrick Tonye-Cole, filed a petition against Governor Siminalayi Fubara of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), but it was dismissed on Tuesday by an Appeal Court in Lagos State.
The APC candidate asked on Tuesday that the court declare him the victor of the March governorship race in Rivers and force INEC to issue such declaration.

The Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal first rejected Cole’s lawsuit contesting Fubara’s election as governor in October.
Nonetheless, the APC candidate went to the appellate court because he was dissatisfied with the Tribunal’s ruling.
On Tuesday, however, the court confirmed the October win of Fubara, as declared by the Tribunal.
More information to come.
