Siminalayi Fubara, the governor of Rivers State, made a lighthearted plea to the congregation on Thursday at Saint Cyprian’s Anglican Church, Hospital Road, Port Harcourt, to forgo acknowledging visitors in the company of his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.

The governor, who was recently at daggers drawn with Wike, made the congregation chuckle when he declared the roll call needed to be suspended in order to prevent another impeachable crime.

Speaking during the rededication ceremony of the Rivers State Judiciary’s 2023–2024 Legal Year, held at the church, Fubara stated that Wike—who is currently the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister—remains his principal.

He called for peace in the oil-rich state once more and declared that the current political crisis in the state was history. Rivers State can, according to Fubara, if the players and those who support them behave peacefully.

“My yoga is still my yoga. Everything that has transpired has already happened. The governor declared, “I have not sent anyone to malign anybody.”

Despite the difficult period the state has been through, he stated that the current political miscommunication will end and the promises his administration made to the populace will be fulfilled.

In addition, the governor issued a warning to those endorsing him to refrain from disparaging his opponents by using foul language, stating that he had given them no permission to do so.

The devil will always try to undermine efforts at progress, he claims, but the most crucial thing is to “identify the devil and push it out.”

It was the first time the two lawmakers who dominated the most recent political controversy would cross paths in the state’s public eye.

The FCT Minister, Wike, showed up to the church service practically at the conclusion and shook hands with his successor before they sat in the same row for the duration of the event.

Governor Fubara made a lighthearted plea to the congregation at the beginning of his speech to hold off on recognising visitors so as to avoid committing another offence that could lead to impeachment.
