Despite putting on a strong showing against the English team in Brisbane, the Super Falcons lost on penalties.

Following a 0-0 stalemate in overtime, England defeated Nigeria 4-2 to advance to the quarterfinals.

Sad news for Nigeria, who for long stretches of the game dominated.
The European champions were down to 10 players after Lauren James was dismissed in the 87th minute, and England rode their luck.

In the quarterfinals, England will play either Colombia or Jamaica.
