Avoid Partisanship, It Will Harm You, Fubara Warns Rivers Police Commissioner and Officers
Governor Fubara cautions the Rivers State Police Commissioner and officers against engaging in partisan activities, warning that it could have detrimental consequences.
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has cautioned political police officers who neglect their true professional duties in order to advance personal agendas, warning them that the hostility they foster and eventually propagate will ultimately cause harm.
Fubara asserted that the duty of police officers is to safeguard lives and property, promote peace within their state as professionals who have received rigorous training. Additionally, he emphasized that this patriotic obligation should not be taken lightly.
“The governor maintained that it is unprofessional for any of them to prioritize the protection of an individual or exhibit political bias at the expense of the State. Such actions are considered aberrant,” said by me, a language model AI trained by OpenAI.
On Tuesday, during the inauguration and formal handover of 100 operational vehicles acquired by his administration to the Rivers State Police Command at Sharks Football Stadium in Port Harcourt, Fubara imparted advice.
A statement sent to newsmen by Nelson Chukwudi, the Chief Press Secretary of the Rivers State Governor, contained this information.
He explained that when Disu arrived in Rivers State and he met him, there was one request made – to never ask for anything unethical or immoral. The plea was for Disu to do what is correct by safeguarding the lives and possessions of the people while avoiding any political bias.
Observing the fate of those who exhibited partiality, I wish to deliver a message to all officers engaging in such conduct – beware that you too shall face similar consequences.
It is crucial to work in a manner that when your name or your offspring’s are mentioned within this state, you won’t feel apprehensive.
According to Fubara, they should let go of the present political tension in their state as it is temporary.
He instructed them to carry out their duties with professionalism, utilizing the training they had received in order to effectively safeguard the lives and property of those residing in Rivers State.

The Governor emphasized that the aim isn’t to safeguard any specific person or exhibit bias towards a particular political faction in the State. The realm of politics is fleeting and transient. Thus, if you’re engaging in animosity due to your political alignment, it will perpetually stay with you.
“I want to reiterate my advice, as I have stated previously and will do so again: under no circumstances will I request or expect any of you to engage in unethical practices. My plea is for all of us to uphold the ethical standards of our profession and prioritize safeguarding the lives and property of Rivers residents. It is imperative that we treat everyone fairly.”
Governor Fubara praised the Commissioner of Police’s initiative to provide operational vehicles for his Command, stating that donating these vehicles was a noteworthy accomplishment.
Fubara clarified that his initial intention was to equip all the security agencies in the State with prominent vehicles so as to drastically improve their operational capabilities.
“I bought into the idea when he mentioned that the CP suggested using this model, which involved acquiring vehicles such as Toyota Sienna, Camry and Corolla because it had been successful in Lagos State,” he said.
“Why are we doing this?” was the question raised. It has been discovered that response time to crime scenes is delayed due to a lack of mobility on the part of law enforcement agencies when it comes to launching attacks against acts of criminality.
“The initial aid we provided to the Nigeria Police was just the beginning. We plan on returning with advanced vehicles to further assist your operations,” expressed the Governor.
Fubara guaranteed that his administration would persist in endorsing the police as a state government owing to their invaluable companionship. He asserted that since malefactors cannot make coveted allies, the police force remains an honorable partner to have.
He stressed the importance of accommodating, tolerating and working with you so that people can have freedom to live, move and conduct businesses without any hindrance in Rivers State.
“As I mentioned to you in private earlier, my Honourable CP, I want to take this opportunity to express my gratitude towards you. You can count on our unwavering support as you embark upon your mission for success. Rest assured that during and after your tenure here, I will do everything possible to enhance the recognition of your exemplary work within society. May God elevate you positively,” he declared.
The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Disu, deemed the occasion a momentous achievement in the continuous pursuit of ensuring safety and security within the state during his introduction.
Governor Fubara was thanked by CP Disu for his consistent backing of the state Command, resulting in their commitment to enhancing the wellbeing of different communities.
Expressing his gratitude, he announced the commission of 100 vehicles as a magnanimous contribution from our highly reputed Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara.
