Attack on the INEC office: Imo youth group says it’s impossible not to suspect the opposition
Wednesday, young people from Imo said that it is impossible to think that opposition forces did not attack the INEC state headquarters on Port Harcourt Road in Owerri, the capital of the state.
In response to the attack on INEC’s state headquarters on Monday morning, they said that if the administration falls, the opposition will stand to gain the most from the ensuing crime wave.
These statements were made by the Global Association of Concerned Imo Youths (GACIY) in a statement made available to Obasanjonews24 in Owerri, the capital of Imo State, and signed by the convener, Sir. Collins Ughalaa.
Remember how the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Imo State criticized the governor of the state, Senator Hope Uzodinma, for her statement after the attack on the INEC office in Owerri on Monday, calling it reckless and dishonorable?
According to Uzodinma, the attack on the Owerri headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission shows that the state’s lack of security is due to political motives, according to Obasanjonews24.
In response, the GACIY stated, “While we expect bandits and their accomplices to continue paying a high price for their recalcitrance, we implore our youths to shun harmful peer pressure and gang culture no matter the temptation.”
“We want to thank the brave members of the Nigeria Police Force and other groups for stopping the attack on the Independent National Electoral Commission’s state office on Port Harcourt Road in Owerri on Monday morning.
“Three armed gunmen who charged at the INEC site during the encounter—possibly intending to mimic the Easter Monday 2021 prison break at Owerri—were killed by our battle-ready officers, while one assailant was caught alive.”
This accomplishment dispels the idea of invincibility held by gunmen who rely on voodoo, amulets, and cannibalism. We think that if this attempt had been successful, voters’ and people’s confidence would have been severely shaken. It did not, thanks to our brave officers.
From where we stand with her right now, we also want INEC to stay strong and stop any attempts to rig the elections.
