Air Peace Hikes Ticket Prices by 100% for Festive Season
Air Peace has announced a 100% increase in ticket prices for the upcoming festive season, citing high demand and operational costs. Learn more about what this means for travelers and holiday plans.
Nigerian airline Air Peace has announced that fares on all domestic routes will double, effective November 1, 2024. This substantial increase is expected to place an additional financial burden on travelers as the holiday season approaches.
The airline notified its customers through email, stating, “We would like to inform you that starting November 1, 2024, Air Peace will implement a 100% fare increase on all local routes.”
As of October 25, a one-way flight from Lagos to Abuja is priced at N143,000. However, with the upcoming fare adjustments, this cost is anticipated to rise significantly to around N286,000. This increase will likely affect Nigerians’ travel plans for year-end festivals and family reunions.
Air Peace has not publicly commented on the reasons for this significant increase yet.
Nevertheless, this change will significantly impact many Nigerians who depend on air travel for safer transportation, especially given the increasing security issues in different regions of the country. Higher airfares could further restrict travel choices, particularly for average Nigerians already burdened by high travel expenses.
The price increase follows President Bola Tinubu’s decision to raise the petrol pump price to over N1,000, which in turn has led to higher transport fares across the country.
As both air and land travel costs skyrocket, Nigerian travelers are facing increased financial pressure, transforming mobility across the country into an expensive challenge this festive season.
