Russian drones were launched overnight over Ukrainian territory, and 16 of the 30 were shot down by Ukraine’s air defence systems, according to Ukrainian Air Forces on Sunday.

Drones were fired in three different directions, according to information posted on the Telegram messaging service.

Authorities claimed there had been an attack on the Cherkasy region of central Ukraine.

“During the night, the enemy used assault drones to bombard our Cherkasy territory heavily. Ihor Taburets, the governor of Cherkasy, posted on Telegram that “Unfortunately, there were hits on industrial infrastructure in [the city of] Uman.”

The eastern Dnipropetrovsk region and the southern Mykolaiv region both suffered damage to civilian infrastructure, according to a statement from the Ukrainian presidential office.

Reuters was not able to independently confirm the stories.
