Asari Dokubo, a former militant leader, has pledged to establish an alliance with the North in preparation for the 2027 presidential election.

Asari accused President Bola Tinubu of betrayal after he had supported his rise to become Nigeria’s president in 2023, and made the remark during this accusation.

The ex-militant leader shared how he used his funds to campaign for Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election, only to feel betrayed afterward.

In a viral video, he urged his followers to hold him accountable if Tinubu did not succeed as president.

He expressed his apologies to the older generation, acknowledging that they were right in forming an alliance with the North. As young men, he stated their intention to now begin that same partnership anew.

Starting today, I will collaborate and form an alliance with the North. After spending all my money and exhausting my bank account to campaign for him, President Tinubu has betrayed me. This comes as reports surface about an alliance forming among the country’s opposition political parties.

In January, political scientist Pat Utomi revealed that he had discussions with PDP’s presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party (LP) candidate Peter Obi, and NNPP’s Rabiu Kwankwaso about the prospect of establishing a new political party.

Recently, Utomi confirmed that Atiku, Kwankwaso, and Obi have decided to establish a political party with the aim of unseating President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
