2026 WCQ: Osimhen, Others Arrive Super Eagles Camp Ahead of Crucial Rwanda Clash
Victor Osimhen and other key Super Eagles players have arrived in camp as Nigeria prepares for a decisive 2026 World Cup Qualifier against Rwanda.
Star striker Victor Osimhen, along with Bruno Onyemaechi, Papa Daniel Mustapha, and Kayode Bankole were the first players to arrive at Nigeria’s camp for the crucial 2026 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda.
The team’s social media accounts featured a video post showing the players at Kigali International Airport in Rwanda’s capital.
Coach Eric Chelle and several team officials welcomed the players as they arrived for camp in preparation for Friday’s clash.
The social media post shared early Monday read: “Super Eagles officials and four players – Victor Osimhen, Bruno Onyemaechi, Papa Daniel Mustapha, and Kayode Bankole – have arrived ahead of schedule.”
Osimhen, who is in excellent form this season, is anticipated to lead Nigeria’s attack for the game against Rwanda.
Nigeria ranks fourth in the five-team group, having earned only three points from four matches.
Chelle, who will be leading the Super Eagles as head coach for the first time, has announced a squad of 23 players for an upcoming match. This game is part of Group C World Cup qualifiers and includes another fixture against Zimbabwe scheduled in Nigeria next Tuesday.
The Super Eagles are currently in fourth place out of five teams, having earned only three points from four matches. They have not secured a win yet and trail the group leaders, Rwanda, by four points. This situation puts them at risk of missing out on their second consecutive World Cup appearance.
After missing the previous competition in Qatar, Nigeria faces pressure to raise their country’s flag at next year’s event in the US, Canada, and Mexico.
