Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate for 2023, has received support from an organisation called the Yoruba Leaders of Thought.

The leaders praised the APC for embracing the power transition to foster nationalism and belonging when they met with Tinubu on Monday during an interactive session in Lagos. They also praised the party’s governors.

The group’s convener, Tajudeen Olusi, claimed that Tinubu made significant contributions to the nation by advancing democracy, good governance, and economic growth.

Together with his running mate, Sen. Kashim Shettima, Tinubu attended the ceremony and thanked the leaders for their “labour of love.”

The APC presidential flag bearer told them in Yoruba that the 2023 presidency was for all of them and other Nigerians, stating “Eyinlokan,” which translates to “it’s your turn.”

“The highly successful interactive session noted the phenomenal successes already recorded by Asiwaju Bola Tinubu both in his pre-political career and in his public life as a politician, administrator, and leader,” Olusi and the group’s secretary Adebayo Aina wrote in a statement following the meeting.

“The meeting came to the conclusion that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu stands head and shoulders above the competition in the contest for the presidency of Nigeria in 2023.

“He is the most qualified in terms of competency, character, capacity, and humaneness to lead Nigeria to an enviable wealthy status among the comity of nations in the 21st century,” says Kano.

The gathering praised President Buhari for his accomplishments to date and for proving that he is a patriotic and upright man.

“Yet, they urged him to take swift, drastic action to lessen the misery brought on by the country’s dual shortage of fresh Naira notes and petrol.

“We applaud the leaders of the APC today and the party’s founders for transforming the organisation into a potent electoral force. But it needs to change from being just a tool for winning elections to becoming a group that can confidently plan and carry out Nigeria’s growth.

“To conclude, Yoruba leaders of thought urged all Nigerians to set aside February 25, 2023, to support the shared prosperity that Asiwaju Tinubu’s presidency is certain to deliver to Nigeria.”
