Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is not a stepping stone to an Igbo presidency, according to Femi Fani-Kayode, a senior member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Atiku, according to Fani-Kayode, cannot serve as a springboard for an Igbo president because he has unsuccessfully run for the presidency 30 times in the past.
If Igbos choose Atiku as president in 2023, he will leave the office to them. During a campaign event in Anambra State, he made the promise.
Fani-Kayode said that no one could stop an Igbo from becoming president when the time was right.

According to a Facebook post, Fani-Kayode called Atiku haughty.
The former aviation minister said on Facebook, in part, “Do the Igbo need you to become president?” You have been attempting to become president for more than 30 years, but you have been unsuccessful. Now you claim that you will serve as a stepping stone for someone else.
When the time for an Igbo presidency comes, no one can stop it, and they won’t need a fading, weak, corrupt, dishonest, treacherous, anti-Southern religious bigot and ethnic hegemonist to be a stepping stone for them.
