Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for president, carried his campaign to Owerri, Imo State, on Saturday. He asserted that the South-East has no reason not to support the party with its votes on February 25, 2023.
“I want to reassure you that you won’t regret choosing the PDP. The PDP was in power when this nation experienced its greatest growth. Atiku promised a gathering of supporters, “We will replicate it and even surpass what we did while we were in government.”
“We are capable of doing it again because those of us who did it the first time are still alive and powerful, I assure you, and I vow to God. see you around. Therefore, there is no excuse for the people of Imo and the South-East to vote for any party other than the PDP.
Atiku appealed to the All Progressives Congress (APC) veterans in the APC stronghold by mentioning his “many decades” of Igbo relationships and his self-described capacity to bring about economic and systemic transformation in the area.

“For me, it’s a welcome return to Imo. Here in Imo State, I was given the chieftaincy title of Nwanne Di N’Mba of Ngo Okpala, the first to be bestowed upon me in the south-east. We rushed this Imo airport to the people of Imo.
“Our community, the community to which I belong, was the first to honour me in the South.” Because of this, I would be in charge if I were in that position. Your own presidency is in place.
“I want to reassure you that business and trading will take off again if I have the chance and you elect me because I mentioned in my policy statement that I would set aside $10 billion exclusively to encourage women and young men in business. As a result, he stated, there will be no excuse for any young person, male or female, to be idle.
The PDP candidate also promised to fix the country’s security problems and take steps to restructure the country.
“I am aware that there are security issues across the nation. Let me assure you that if you choose to make me your president, I will visit you here, have a conversation with you, and find out what your issue is. “We will negotiate a deal jointly,” he added.
“I know that the whole South-East wants the country to be restructured, and it is one of the five things on my agenda that I will meet with every region of this country. We will work with the National Assembly to make sure that the federating units get the power and resources we want.”

Senator Iyorcha Ayu, the PDP’s national chairman, promised supporters that if Atiku were elected, he would bring development to Imo and address insecurity, while also admonishing them that the party would not accept a split within the organization.
The state belongs to the PDP. Since 1999, the state has always been a PDP statete has always been a PDP state. Everyone who quit, including Rochas Okorocha, was a member of the PDP. To succeed, we must work together. We won’t put up with party dissension. By collaborating, we must elect the president on February 25.
“Everyone needs to rally everyone. We’ll give Imo back after you win the presidency. Atiku will improve the state’s security and growth if you vote for him. Choose a candidate who is familiar with the nation and has experience dealing with security issues. “We will encourage the youths and ladies because Igbo people are rich people,” Ayu reportedly stated in a statement.
Ifeanyi Okowa, the vice presidential candidate for the PDP, had earlier claimed that Imo’s young had demonstrated that they were prepared to support the party, and that Atiku’s presidency would be “immensely beneficial” to the state’s businesspeople and youth.
The governor and head of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Aminu Tambuwal, told the crowd that Atiku knew about the problems facing both the state and the South-East as a whole.
He said, “He is here asking for your help to rebuild our nation.”
Atiku also paid a polite visit to the state’s monarchs. He posted pictures of the occasion on Twitter.
