Bode George, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has accused the Yoruba Nation agitators who stormed the Oyo State Secretariat of committing an act of treason.

Over the weekend, these agitators, dressed in camouflage and armed, forcefully entered the premises of the Oyo State House of Assembly, claiming the creation of a separate ‘Democratic Republic of the Yoruba’.

In response, the Nigerian Army stated that the agitators had fired at soldiers who were deployed to maintain law and order.

Expressing his anger, George emphasized that it is unacceptable for citizens to take up arms against their own government.

He further questioned the motives behind their actions, suggesting that lack of education might be a contributing factor.

George stressed the importance of freedom of speech as a more sensible approach to addressing grievances, rather than resorting to violence.

He also highlighted the need for state police to prevent such incidents in the future.
