Women protesting Plateau massacre burn down traditional ruler’s house

On Friday, angry ladies set fire to Michal Monday Adanchi, the district head of Bokkos town, in protest of the consequences of the recent deaths in certain villages in Plateau State.
One of the communities where the killings occurred is Bakkos town, which is part of the Bokkos Local Government Area.

The district head’s home was reportedly destroyed on Friday at 12:30.

The arrest of some community members for their apparent involvement in the deaths was reported to have infuriated the women.

“The incident began at the police station, where they [the women] expressed their anger over the arrest of some community members,” an eyewitness told reporters.

They went to the traditional ruler’s home after leaving the police station, demonstrating against him as a sellout. The eyewitness continued, “They lit the home on fire a few minutes after arriving.

However, because the demonstration was violent, soldiers were called in and the women protestors were dispersed.

The state police command reportedly verified the apprehension of eight individuals in relation to the attacks, according to Obasanjo News24.

Over 200 people are reported to have died, numerous others injured, and hundreds of dwellings destroyed in raids on roughly 23 communities on December 24, 25, and 26. Obasanjo News24 also cites these details.
