David Adeleke, better known by his stage as Davido, took a break midway through his performance at the Afronation festival in Detroit, Michigan, on Sunday to pay honour to Mrs. Jane Dolapo Balogun, the mother of Wizkid, who passed away on Friday, August 18, 2023.
Davido acknowledged that he was no stranger to sadness, pointing out the numerous loved ones he had lost, including his mother, Mrs. Veronica Adekunle, who passed away many years prior.
But according to him, Wizkid made his mum happy with his musical accomplishments before she passed away.
“Personally, I have lost so many people in my life,” Davido stated as he spoke to the gathering. Ayo Balogun Wizkid, my brother, also deserves my sincere sympathies. May her soul rest in peace, his mother.
My mum passed away many years ago. However, I am confident that Wizkid has done all that he could to please his mother.
