Wike’s FCTA is set to demolish 200 houses to create space for Presidential fleet
The Director of Development Control has been requested by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to make sure that the Nuwalege community on Airport Road makes way for the presidential fleet plot.
The Nigerian Air Force made a request, and the decision was made in response.

The minister hinted that the society needs to make place for progress during a Tuesday community and citizen engagement in Abuja, speaking through the Director, Mukhtar Galadima.
“This village is part of the presidential fleet plots, as stated in a letter from the Nigerian Air Force authority to the honourable minister about a month ago,” he claimed.
Therefore, as it is the duty of the FCT administration, the minister wisely asked that they permit them to handle it. In response to their wish, the Nigerian Air Force contacted the Department of Development Control.
Therefore, it is our duty to involve the neighbourhood and its people, which is why we are here today to talk with them and let them know what we want to do. It would not be just to bring the machine here and begin demolishing their homes.
“Therefore, we went to see him at his palace with the chiefs and explained why we were here today.”
Galadima gave a hint when discussing the quantity of homes that will be destroyed, stating that between 150 and 200 homes along with any related commercial spaces would be taken down.
“We will discuss with the Air Force, because obviously discussion behind the scene indicates that some forms of compensation were paid,” he said in response to questions from reporters about the matter of compensating the affected natives. “But we have to be certain that this compensation actually were paid, and also who was really given this compensation,” he added.
We will carry out additional research with the Nigerian Air Force and the FCT administration, or the Department of Resettlement and Compensation, to determine whether and when compensation has been given.
“Thereafter, we will talk with our colleague in the Department of Resettlement and Compensation about whether they have ever received any compensation for their claims regarding the number of structures and individuals that this expansion project will impact.”
He went on, “There are some things that we have to take into consideration, like the security, because obviously, this is the area of some of this settlement where some of these underworlders are attempting to hide and disguise themselves.”
And judging by this, it is too close for the presidential fleet, represented by the Air Force formation, to coexist. Thus, we’ll observe whether there is a pressing need to delete a portion of We will accomplish this, community.
Therefore, we must engage the community. It is not the complete neighbourhood because we have toured the area and seen both the places inside and outside of the presidential fleet plot.
Galadima remarked, “At least we have given him the respect as a high class person,” in reference to the expectations of the village chief. We have explained to him the purpose of our visit and that we would be returning for a more extensive engagement that will involve our colleagues, the Nigerian Air Force, and the leaders of the local communities. Therefore, I believe that by properly including them, we have done what was necessary.
